WEEK TWO
WEEK TWO
Artificial intelligence did not emerge in isolation. It represents the latest stage in a long history of educational innovation. This week examines how previous instructional technologies have influenced teaching and learning and considers what lessons can be applied to the implementation of artificial intelligence. Students will explore why educational organizations often struggle to prepare educators for emerging technologies and how past experiences can inform future implementation.

What Can History Teach Us About AI?
Compare the implementation of artificial intelligence with a previous educational innovation (e.g., computers, the Internet, one-to-one devices, interactive whiteboards, learning management systems). What lessons should educational organizations apply as they prepare for AI implementation?
Respond substantively to at least two classmates using evidence from the assigned readings.
Learning from the Past to Prepare for the Future
Building on the organization selected in Week 1, prepare a 3–4-page analysis examining your organization's history of educational technology adoption.
Your analysis should address the following:
Describe previous educational technology initiatives implemented within the organization.
Identify factors that contributed to successful or unsuccessful implementation.
Discuss the role of leadership, professional learning, and organizational culture during previous technology initiatives.
Explain how these experiences have influenced the organization's readiness for artificial intelligence.
Identify lessons from the organization's history that should guide future AI implementation.
This assignment becomes the second section of your semester-long Organizational AI Implementation Plan and builds upon the Organizational AI Readiness Profile completed in Week 1.
