Week 6 – Defining the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Education

Weekly Overview

Educational organizations must make intentional decisions about the role artificial intelligence should play in teaching and learning. This week explores how organizations can develop a shared vision for AI implementation while balancing innovation, ethics, instructional quality, and human expertise. Students will examine how organizational leadership establishes expectations for the appropriate and responsible use of AI.

What Role Should Artificial Intelligence Play in Education?

After completing this week's readings, discuss the role artificial intelligence should play within educational organizations. Should AI primarily support instruction, administrative tasks, student learning, assessment, or all of these areas? Explain your position using evidence from the required readings and the UNESCO guidance.

Respond substantively to at least two classmates by extending the discussion through additional evidence, thoughtful questions, or professional experiences.

Developing an Organizational Vision for Artificial Intelligence

Building upon your work from the previous weeks, prepare a 3–4-page analysis describing the role artificial intelligence should play within your selected educational organization.

Your analysis should address the following:

Describe the organization's current philosophy regarding educational technology.

Recommend an organizational vision for artificial intelligence.

Identify instructional, operational, and leadership areas where AI can provide the greatest value.

Explain how equity, ethics, and educator readiness should influence organizational decision-making.

Recommend strategies for communicating this vision to educators and stakeholders.

This assignment becomes the sixth section of your semester-long Organizational AI Implementation Plan.
